Answers straight from cotton Country

Here’s what you need to know about HomeGrown and what makes it so special. If you have a question that’s not-so-frequently-asked, feel free to get in touch with us.

WHAT IS HOMEGROWN COTTON?

HomeGrown is quality American-grown cotton you can feel good about choosing. Our revolutionary tracking system monitors the integrity of our cotton at every step from the farm to the store. So when you see HomeGrown on the label, you know you're getting a product made with 100% American-grown upland cotton.

WHAT MAKES HOMEGROWN COTTON DIFFERENT FROM OTHER COTTONS?

While other upland cottons may claim to be 100% American-grown, only HomeGrown can scientifically prove it. How’s that? We use a revolutionary verification system that tags, tracks, and tests our cotton to ensure it's never contaminated or compromised, from the time it leaves our farms to the time it arrives in stores. Just look for the HomeGrown logo, and rest assured you’re getting cotton you can feel good about.

WHERE CAN I BUY HOMEGROWN PRODUCTS?

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMERICAN UPLAND COTTON AND UPLAND COTTON FROM OTHER COUNTRIES?

The answer is simple: confidence. When you buy a product with 100% American-grown HomeGrown Cotton, you can be confident your product hasn’t been blended with cotton that might have been grown unethically and unsustainably. In countries like Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, and India, the cotton industry is rife with harmful pesticides and unethical labor practices, like child labor. That cotton often makes its way into the conventional cotton supply chain and eventually into retail products. The only way to avoid these products is to make sure your cotton is 100% American grown. Like ours.

HOW CAN I BE SURE MY COTTON PRODUCTS ARE SUSTAINABLY AND ETHICALLY SOURCED?

Because the cotton supply chain is wildly complex, it can sometimes be difficult to verify where cotton comes from. That's why  HomeGrown is setting a new standard. Our verification technology gives us visibility into the integrity of our cotton at every turn. We know where it's grown, who it's grown by,and the ethical standards under which it's produced.

WHAT TYPES  OF COTTON ARE OUT THERE?

The cotton that makes its way onto store shelves comes from three distinct species. While Egyptian cotton and pima cotton are both extra-long staple cottons that can make for luxurious, high-end fabrics, upland cotton offers accessible, affordable quality that’s perfect for everyday fabrics. HomeGrown is the only upland cotton that is tracked and traced from farm to store.

HOW ARE HOMEGROWN COTTON PRODUCTS MADE?

After our upland cotton is harvested by our farmers at the end of a long growing season, it is ginned to remove seeds, baled, and spun into yarn. The yarn is then woven into a wide variety of fabrics before being cut and sewn into apparel, home textiles, and other high-quality cotton products you’ll love. HomeGrown is made a little differently because we make the extra effort to test for purity at every step.

WHERE ARE HOMEGROWN PRODUCTS MADE?

In order to deliver high-quality cotton products at an affordable price, products that contain HomeGrown are currently manufactured overseas. However, we are excited about recent advances made in American manufacturing and are interested in partnering with American manufacturers to make the next great American-grown cotton product.

WHAT MAKES COTTON SO GREAT?

With unmatched versatility, reliability, and comfort, it’s no wonder cotton is one of America’s most popular natural fibers. Cotton is breathable yet absorbent, soft yet incredibly durable. Naturally hypoallergenic, odor-resistant, and with lower maintenance than synthetic fibers, cotton is the original performance fabric.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY COTTON PRODUCTS?

No matter if it's upland, pima, or Egyptian, cotton is as easy to care for as it is to love. Simply follow these easy steps to keep your cottons looking and feeling beautiful for years to come. Because every product is different, however, we always recommend following individual label instructions first.
